Our Mission
The Friends of Del Mar Bluffs' mission is to promote and protect the natural resilience of Del Mar's bluffs and the community of life it supports; to encourage actions which serve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the bluffs and to oppose those actions that tend otherwise.
Our History
Increasingly large bluff slides and proposed environmentally destructive plans to add over 1,000 new sources of water intrusion on or near the edges of the fragile sandstone bluffs, prompted the creation of the Friends of Del Mar Bluffs in 2022. The Friends is a nonprofit public benefit corporation organized under California Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes.
Our Team
Our team is made up of dedicated supporters and community members committed to protecting Del Mar's 1.6 miles of fragile coastal bluffs and ecosystem that stretches between Powerhouse Park and Torrey Pines State Beach. These include experts in geology, biology, engineering, and environmental law who work to further our mission.
